Wipro acquires telecom expert Convergence Acceleration Solutions

IT services giant Wipro has acquired Convergence Acceleration Solutions (CAS Group), a Roswell, GA-based management and technology consulting firm serving the telecommunications industry.

Founded in 2007, CAS Group serves clients across the areas of mobile/wireless, business and fiber-optic services, and cable, data, and telecom retail solutions. The firm’s consulting offerings include operational support system and business support system transformation, application modernization, broadband infrastructure services, and network enablement of digital products such as 5G and IoT.

CAS Group has approximately 145 employees and annual revenue of $28.1 million.

Wipro will pay an upfront consideration of $50 million and a contingent consideration of $30 million, payable over three years, to acquire CAS Group.

The deal will give Wipro an end-to-end professional services solution for telecom clients, with services ranging from strategy development and planning to execution and implementation.

Philippe Dintrans, SVP and global head of domain and consulting at Wipro, added, “Their long-standing strategic partnerships with some of the largest communications service providers, combined with deep expertise in large scale transformation projects, will allow us to achieve a significant competitive advantage in this high-growth sector.”

Wipro last year acquired financial services industry consultancy Capco for $1.5 billion. The India-headquartered company also last year bought Edgile, an Austin-based cybersecurity consulting firm, for $230 million.
