Two Additional Candidates for Executive Director of University Technology/Chief Information Officer to Interview June 6, 8

MACOMB/MOLINE, IL – Two additional candidates for the open position of Western Illinois University Executive Director of University Technology/Chief Information Officer will interview Monday, June 6 and Wednesday, June 8.

Gregory Kain, executive director of information technology at Prairie State College in Chicago Heights, IL, will interview June 6 and James Connors, director of IT and business intelligence at Howard Brown Health, in Chicago, IL, will interview June 8.

A third candidate, George Abraham, executive director of enterprise application and interoperability at Central Piedmont Community College in North Carolina, will interview today (Tuesday, May 31).

An open session with Kain and Connors for faculty, staff and students from the Macomb and Quad Cities campuses, will be held from 10:15-10:45 a.m. each interview day, in Horrabin Hall, room 1, and over Zoom at wiu.zoom.us/j/99288542331 for Kain and wiu.zoom.us/j/97903586074 for Connors.

Kain has been the executive director of information technology at Prairie State College in Chicago Heights, IL, since 2015. Previously, he was the executive director of information technology at the WAKA Group, LLC, in Reston, VA from 2010-2015, the director of application development at Governor’s State University in University Park, IL, from 2000-2012, manager of software development for News America Marketing, in Chicago from 1997-2000, senior programmer and systems analyst for Quaker Oats, in Bridgeview, IL, from 1994-2997, and a programmer/analyst for Arthur Andersen LLP, in Chicago, from 1990-1994.

Kain received his bachelor’s degree in industrial management and accounting from Purdue University and his MBA from Governors State University.

Connors has been the director of IT and business intelligence at Howard Brown Health since 2017. Previously, he was the senior IT director of technology for Reading Hospital in West Reading, PA, from 2011-2017, the IT director for Agnesian Healthcare in Fon du Lac, WI, from 2007-2011, IT director for Quest Diagnostics, in Wood Dale, IL, from 2003-2007, director of technology for the Libertyville CHSD 128, in Libertyville, IL, from 1997-2003, and director for management information systems for St. James Hospital and Health Centers in Chicago Heights, IL, from 1993-1997.

Connors received his bachelor’s degree in education/math from Chicago State University and his master’s degree in project management from the Chicago State University Graduate School.
